Good news for Twitch.tv fans came today in the form of an announcement for app support on the Xbox 360! In a blog on Twitch.tv, community manager Jared Rea announced the news that as of today, the application will be available to Gold members. The Twitch app is bring the top 300 channels to you so you can view them straight from your console. The app is Kinect enabled with voice and motion controls as well!

“The Twitch App for Xbox 360 will bring the top 300 live channels to your big screen, with the ability to browse the directory by top channels, games and featured content. Best of all, the Twitch App for Xbox 360 is Kinect-enabled, allowing you to control the entire experience with voice or motion controls.”

The only sad news is that there is currently no search feature to view any other channels other than the top 300. This has been an area of criticism by many, but Jared Rea responded by stating, “We’re not happy with the apps either, which is why we completely rebooted development for both iOS and Android. The unfortunate reality is that sometimes you need to take a step back before you can move forward. For example: search did not function on the apps. It just flat out didn’t, so instead of having a worthless “feature” living in the app, we removed it until we get it right.”

This explanation is very welcome, and helps explain why there is currently no search function for your lesser liked streams, and favorited streams. However, if what he said holds some weight, hopefully a working search function will be added in a future update soon!

I have been hard at work trying to create achievement guides for Windows 8 Xbox LIVE supported games. The reason being, is because I find myself enjoying a lot of them, and the achievement hunter in me wants to help others succeed in the game’s as well. The only issue is that not many sites review, or even write achievement guides for Windows 8 Xbox LIVE games. So, I will do it here when I can!

Most of my guides originate on Xbox360achievements.org, as I am a regular there and find myself using guides there a lot. Therefore, when ever I write a guide, I’ll link it here incase some people don’t frequent that site.

Blood Dragon is a stand-alone, downloadable expansion to the critically acclaimed “Far Cry 3″. You don’t have to own Far Cry 3, or even have any prior knowledge of the Far Cry series. Blood Dragon is a self-contained, retro futuristic sibling to the franchise, & it’s full of insanity. Is it worth the $15 price tag though? Hit the jump & I’ll gladly inform you of what I thought about this love letter to 80′s action films.

Blood Dragon has dragons that shoot laser beams out of their eyes. Sold yet? If not, keep reading I guess, you insane dragon-hating person.

You play as Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt, a cyborg embodying the attitude of every action star  in the 80′s. He’s a walking cliché, actually the entire game is a cliché, & it’s glorious. Blood Dragon is a love letter to a decade bursting with neon, one-liners, & over the top flair, & it captures all of that in 1.32GB.

Blood Dragon takes place in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic 2007, that’s over-futurized &  full of cyborgs. Ubisoft described it best when they said Blood Dragon is “an 80s VHS vision of the future” – it couldn’t be more true.

The plot of Blood Dragon is your standard 80′s action movie fare – save the girl, kill the bad guy, & save the world. But, what makes it special is how self-aware it is, & how great the writing is.  The plot knows exactly how cliché it is, & it pokes fun at itself – it’s charming, refreshing & well executed.

The opening tutorial is a good example of Blood Dragon’s tongue-in-cheek humor. But, Rex himself will immediately give you an idea of what to expect from this acid trip of a game.  He’s a sarcastic, gun-toting, wise-ass. Much of the credit goes to Michael Beihn  (Terminator & Aliens) who provided the voice over for Rex, as he really added extra layers of sarcasm & fun to the already well written protagonist.

For all intents & purposes, Blood Dragon is Far Cry 3 with a neon-overhaul. Granted, it has a host of new features, but it is very much Far Cry 3 in terms of core mechanics. As an example, a lot of the side-mission content that Far Cry 3 featured is reused. They can play out a bit differently now with the inclusion of dragons though. The dragons take a lot of firepower to take down, & they can really change your tactics if you were trying to disable a garrison in a stealthy manner. They force you to adapt your play-style rather quickly.

That being said, it’s best to view Blood Dragon as a very large expansion pack to Far Cry 3 – similar in quality to Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption.

The changes that were implemented were smart choices, & they help the flow of the game drastically. The first thing people will likely notice as they play Blood Dragon is how the leveling system has been completely overhauled. Instead of choosing a new ability & gaining a new tattoo, your auto-leveled & a skill is chosen for you. I felt like this worked out well, considering how carefully the preset skills were laid out. You weren’t overpowered too early into the game & you were never left feeling underpowered or weak – in Blood Dragon you feel appropriately like an unstoppable cyborg, the balancing is done well.

Speaking to that, as a cyborg you now can run faster, swim faster, breathe underwater, & you take no fall damage. All these aspects tremendously impact the flow of Blood Dragon, & makes you feel more like a predator. Stalking enemies while crouching in tall grass & tagging them with your cybernetic eye modification is very satisfying.
Rex also has a few select weapons that were unavailable to Brody in Far Cry 3, most notably a Terminator 2-esque shotgun that is a ton of fun to use. The famous bow & arrow makes a return, now with a neon makeover, an 80′s Sci-Fi SMG, a pistol straight out of RoboCop, a very explosive sniper rifle, & a Predator-style mini-gun are also available to use & help bring destruction.

You also receive a particularly chaotic weapon once you finish the game. I won’t spoil it, but it is absolutely devastating & is a blast to use. If you have any side content left to finish upon completing the story,  this weapon will be more than adequate at helping to mop up leftover side-missions.

As you progress through side-missons, you’ll be able to unlock attachments for your weapons. Unlike Far Cry 3, in Blood Dragon you can equip more than 2 attachments per weapon. This allows for some incredibly fun to use weaponry. By the end of the game, if you’ve completed an adequate amount of side content, your once lame pistol will turn into a doom bringer. For this reason, I recommend tackling the garrisons & bounty board missions early on in the story. The added firepower in the later story missions are worth it.

Surprisingly, the map in Blood Dragon is quite large. There is plenty of land to explore & drive around on. Blood Dragon also has it’s own set of collectibles to hunt for – gone are the relics & memory cards. You now have appropriately themed 80′s collectibles to search for, like TV sets & VHS tapes.

There is still a ton to do in Blood Dragon – it retains all of the stuff that made Far Cry 3 fun, puts a unique spin on it, & condenses it into a downloadable package full of 80′s nostalgia. Blood Dragon hits so many high points & does so much right, it’s difficult not to justify the 15 dollar price tag.

The audio is another strong point of Blood Dragon. As soon as you start the game, the music makes you feel like you’re in a Sci-Fi B-movie straight out of the 1980′s. Everything from the NES-style cutscenes to the superb execution of the atmospheric soundtrack is a joy to hear & see.

These types of parodies can go wrong very easily. A lot of games have attempted to be clever & go overboard on stupidity while still remaining fun, & they usually always fall on their face. But, Ubisoft managed to turn a parody into something that’s actually incredibly fun to play.

If you rush through the story, you can probably finish in about 6-8 hours. But, that would be a mistake as most of the fun comes from exploring, hunting the newly skinned cyborg animals, & using different tactics to take over a garrison.

If you’ve never played Far Cry 3, & you’re a fan of great FPS titles that tailor to your play-style, then Blood Dragon is for you. If you’ve played Far Cry 3, loved it & want more, then Blood Dragon is definitely for you. Because, that’s what Blood Dragon is: more Far Cry 3, & who doesn’t want more Far Cry 3?

Pros:

• Great writing.

• Excellent Sci-Fi music & audio fit the game perfectly.

• Auto-leveling system is handled expertly & helps the flow of the game.

• New weapon additions are fun to use, & multiple attachments allow for some experimental weapon combinations.

• Great value for the $15 price tag.

Cons:

• Some of the side content feels too familiar, & it can be a bit repetitive.

Hey all! I recently wrote an achievement guide detailing how to get all of the achievements for ilomilo plus over at X360a, but wanted to share my guide here for those who don’t check that site. If you already haven’t, I’d also highly suggest checking our review of ilomilo plus which we published last month. Without further ado, go grab that Gamerscore after the page break!

Meet Up 5
Completed a level

This should be the second achievement you get during the game. It is a little misleading as you might expect a tutorial level to count as a “level”, but it does not. You will need to complete your first level in Chapter 1 to unlock this.

The Student 5
Completed the tutorial

This is the first achievement you will get. There are three levels in the tutorial, once you beat them, press the arrow on the right side of the page to advance to Chapter 1 and this achievment will unlock.

Get to chapter 3

In other words, clear the previous chapter. Each chapter consists of 9 normal levels, and once you have beaten at least six levels in a chapter, you will be able to select the right arrow at the right side of the page and advance to the next chapter. The achievements will pop once you enter that new chapter. It is not required to complete the three bonus levels at the end of each chapter either, but you will want to complete them if going for “The Hunter” achievement.

The Egg Hunters 10
Help find all 10 floating eggs with the fly while playing cooperatively

The floating eggs will be found in local multiplayer mode in the First Campaign Book. In this mode, one player will control ilo and milo, while the other player will be a fly. To get this achievement, you will therefore need to play as two players. You can set up the controls for each before launching the mode, so this only needs one person. Once the level the egg is located on is loaded, locate the egg, take control of the second player, and move the fly over the egg shaped objects to shoot them with the controls you set up. Once you collected the egg, the level select map will show that you have collected it.

Unlock Playroom Escapade

Playroom Escapade is the second chapter of Berry Story. It is unlocked by completing 6 levels in the first chapter of Berry Story. You don’t have to worry about collecting the safkas or any of the collectibles, you just have to beat six levels and unlock chapter 2. Once you advance to chapter 2 you will get this achievement.

Finally Together 20
Complete the game

You will need to complete every chapter in the First Book in order to complete the game. That means you need to beat at least six levels in each chapter. In chapter 4, once you beat your sixth level, the last level will unlock. Simply beat that level and you will have completed the game. Some of the later chapters get rather difficult, so take your time. If you are ever stuck, there are plenty of walkthroughs available on Youtube that will show you exactly how to complete each level.

One Of Each 5
Collected one safka of each color

Simply collect one yellow, one green, and one blue safka total. This can easily be completed in Chapter 1 during one of the first levels of The First Story.

King of Yellow 15
Collect all yellow safkas

Collect Yellow Safkas from every level in the chapters. Once you collect every yellow safka, this will unlock.

The Hunter 20
Complete all bonus levels

Each of the chapters have 3 bonus levels that will become available once you collect all of the safkas in that chapter. Each of the bonus levels per chapter correspond to a certain color safka, and once that color safka is fully collected from that chapter it will become available. The bonus levels are large and will take more time than some normal levels, so feel free to check Youtube if you are stuck and need help. Complete all the bonus levels for this to unlock.

Experience all memories

There are 6 total chapters and each one has it’s own memory to be unlocked, so there are 6 total memories to unlock.

You will experience a portion of the memory for the chapter for each time you fill the top left meter. To fill the meter you need to collect flowers that are scattered throughout the levels. As you collect the flowers the meter increases. To unlock a complete memory you will need to fill the meter 4 times, therefore unlocking the 4 portions of the memory for that chapter.

Do not worry if you have completed the last level in a chapter and your memory has not been completed, as you can replay and of the levels and the flowers will reset and allow you to continue to collect them and fill the meter the last bit if you need.

Play ilomilo shuffle

In order to play ilomilo shuffle you will first need to unlock it by finding it in the Story Book. ilomilo shuffle is found in Chapter 3 on the level “wet ink”(3rd middle). You should collect it in the process of completing the level. Once found, beat the level then return to the main menu where you will see the padlock gone from the ilomilo shuffle option in single player (option 3). Select the mode, play a game, and once over, hit “enter” in order for the game to register as complete and the achievement will pop.

Improved the score on a level

This achievement can easily be gained on the first level in chapter 1, although any chapter/level will work as well. Basically just make sure your movement count is very high for the level (switch back and forth between blocks often before uniting ilo and milo) and then complete the level. Once completed, select the level again and this time unite ilo and milo while taking less steps than you did previously and the achievement will unlock.

Complete the level “playroom” in Playroom Escapade in less than 200 steps

This achievement is obtained in Berry Story, specifically the second chapter, Playroom Escapade, level “playroom” (the third bonus level, bottom right). This level must be done in less than 200 steps, so take your time and only move where you need to. It may take you a few tries to do this as you get more comfortable with the level. If you wish however, User “Unlock30″ on Youtube has made a guide on the steps that they took to complete the level in under 200. Following this guide should land you around the same steps they did (177), which will be well under the 200 required.

You’re In The Way 10
Defeat a Nabber in the same move as you complete a level

Nabbers are creatures that capture a safka and you need to chase them down and corner them to free the safka. For this achievement you’ll want to grab the nabber right as ilo and milo meet up, thus ending the level. They first appear in Chapter 3 in the first level, “Cut and Paste”. This achievement can easily be obtained in this level. You’ll want to start by moving ilo down the spiral all the way to where the Nabber is. Use the first cube to cross the gap,then collect the second cube and use them to bridge the large gap. Now, switch to milo and bring him down his path. Grab the flying block with milo and place it in the hole behind it and stand on it to fly over to where the nabber and ilo are. Now, all you need to do is corner the Nabber. Use ilo to block off a pathway then use milo to chase the nabber towards the dead end. The nabber should now be up against ilo and just go on top of him to “defeat” him and meet up with ilo in the same turn.

“Your luggage, sir?” 5
Fully load piccolo

In ilomilo, Piccolo is a creature that you can stack blocks on. You can stack them on its top, left, and right sides. In order to get this achievement you have to fully load Piccolo with the blocks in the level. This can be done in the second chapter of Berry Story, “Playroom Escapade”, specifically the level, “out in the air” (3rd in the middle row).

If you are having trouble getting this one, there is a guide to it on Youtube by user “Unlock30″ that should show you how to get this one.

Three For One 15
Turn one cube into three, using only two mirror cubes

This achievement requires some clever thinking in order to use two mirror cubes to create three cubes out of one cube in a level. This achievement can be done in the second chapter of Berry Story, “Playroom Escapade”, specifically the level, “the great castle”.

If you are having trouble getting this one, there is a guide to it on Youtube from user “Unlock30″ that will help you get it easily.

Follow Me 10
Walk 70 steps in a row with the same mimic attached. No backtracking allowed

This achievement can be obtained in Berry Story, specifically the second chapter, Playroom Escapade, level “playroom” (the third bonus level, bottom right).

I Love Apples 10
Eat all the apples on Apple Mayhem

Apple Mayham is found by accessing Berry Story, as it is the first level in the top row. In order to get this achievement you have to get the creature in the level to eat all of the apples, the big green blocks, that are in your way. You should be able to get this easily, but if not, here is a helpful Youtube video by “Unlock30″ that shows how to complete this achievement.

Xbox Reveal Announcement

These 3 achievements in Motocross Madness can be obtained pretty early in the game and are fairly easy to get. I’ll detail it in this video and if you have any questions let me know in the comments below. Thanks.

The weapons of BattleBlock theater are useful for more than just killing.  In this video I demonstrate how they work.  I’ve also got a link to the BattlePedia where you can learn all about their uses and get a checklist to go by when you try for the weapons master achievement.

Something I didn’t immediately realize, is you can select a new weapon for your character mid game.  To do this simply head to the pause menu and the option is there.  This makes some of the trickier levels a little less tricky.  Additionally don’t be afraid to give your heads away in exchange for weapons when trading online.  Once you have all of the weapons you’ll continue to collect yarn balls but they become useless for you while remaining valuable to players in need of weapons.  This way you can just trade them back for heads later in the game.  Here’s the link to the BattlePedia
